During the 2011 National Convention Vice President of Philanthropy Katie Peachey announced the 2012 locations for the Fraternity's 5th Annual Alternative Break Project.
In honor of our 5th project, we're expanding to support two locations this May!
What is the Alternative Break Project?
To show that we can close the gap on educational inequities in public education through living the ideals of our Brotherhood, ten (10) - fifteen (15) Brothers per location are needed who want to “make an impact that will last a lifetime.”
We will be assisting SPARK Academy in Newark, NJ to construct a mural that will make their new location more kid-friendly, as well as to reflect the values and mission of KIPP.
We will also be assisting KIPP Spirit College Preparatory in Houston, TX to build an outdoor theatre/classroom where students can perform plays.
Additionally both locations will include time in the classroom with Teach For America corps members and of course a chance to visit the local area.
What will it cost to participate?
