Teach For America Month

This October brought our 2nd Annual Phi Sigma Pi Teach For America month, and to make it even more interesting this year we ramped it up with some friendly competition and great awards!

Any Teach For America related event held from September 26, 2011 to November 11, 2011 was eligible to win in one of five categories either a $75 donation of supplies or a DonorsChoose.org donation in your Chapter’s name to the school/teacher of your choice.

The Beta Nu Chapter collaborated with restaurants in a local area called Collegetown and created a fundraiser called Collegetown 4 Classrooms. Students recieved discounts at restaurants by purchasing a wristband and proceeds from the sales went to the fundraiser. Additionally, a local bagel shop, Collegetown Bagels allowed the Chapter to design a unique sandwich for the promotion, which they’ve named the Teacher’s Pet. A $1 from each purchase of this very popular sandwich is contributed towards Teach For America classrooms.

The Gamma Psi Chapter had a strong campaign promoting their event to the university community. Backed by the university and including the President of the university himself in their promotions, the Chapter hosted a campus-wide awareness and wellness event.
