Now more than ever strong, committed leadership is needed to maintain and expand the Phi Sigma Pi experience. Our Fraternity is in constant need of passionate, knowledgeable Brothers to step forward and offer their time and talents to help shape the future of our organization. Phi Sigma Pi is a Fraternity and a business. This is an important concept and one that can be confusing. The National Fraternity is a not-for-profit business, and as such, some of its key responsibilities include:
- Foster the ideals of scholarship, leadership and fellowship
- Get more people to join our existing chapters
- Acquire more new chapters
- Develop programs to ensure strong, viable chapters
- Help chapters to hold successful events and interact with each other
- Encourage our alumni to continue to participate after graduation
- Leverage the knowledge and expertise of our alumni
- Ensure continuity and quality of national leadership
- Ensure the financial stability of the organization
At the highest level the National Fraternity needs leaders to help it identify and foster activities that have the greatest affect on our ability to survive and prosper as a national organization. The National Council and the National Development Committee are two places where brainpower is essential for our success. The Phi Sigma Pi Foundation, our independent fundraising arm, is also in need of quality, committed volunteer leadership.

The National Council is the primary administrative arm of the Fraternity. It has the legislative power to conduct the affairs of the Fraternity between Grand Chapter Business sessions. The seven volunteer National Officers are elected to the National Council every two years by the Grand Chapter. The positions are: the national president, senior vice president, national secretary, vice president of finance, vice president of membership development, vice president of chapter development and vice president of alumni development.
Strong, experienced leaders are encouraged to run for office. Brothers with professional experience in the business world are especially valuable as they bring skills essential to running the operations of the national organization. The National Council is charged with enforcing the National Constitution and leading the Fraternity through strategic planning. National Officers are expected to attend two regularly scheduled meetings in addition to any meetings during the National Convention, including the Grand Chapter business sessions.
