Current Ways to Give...

The Foundation offers many options for its members to invest their generous contributions in the future of Phi Sigma Pi. Options range from supporting undergraduate scholarships to promoting new chapter expansion to helping a Brother in need. We are pleased to offer you the opportunity to make an impact in an area that best matches your specific goals and aspirations, specifically:

National Scholarships
  • Richard Cecil Todd and Clauda Pennock Todd Tripod Scholarship
In September 1991, Dr. and Mrs. Richard Todd established the Richard Cecil Todd and Clauda Pennock Todd Tripod Scholarship to promote the future academic opportunity of Phi Sigma Pi Brothers who have excelled in embodying the ideals of scholarship, leadership, and fellowship.

The Todd Tripod Scholarship is available to all active undergraduate members of Phi Sigma Pi who meet the criteria outlined in the scholarship's charter and award criteria. For several years, chapter members have contributed to the Todd Tripod Scholarship in several ways.

  • Chapter-Specific Scholarships
Chapter Scholarship Accounts are established by individuals or Chapters for the benefit of a specific Chapter. As contributions are received, they are earmarked and placed into an account in the Chapter's name. The Foundation will work with the donor to create the specific criteria. Currently, the Foundation houses two Chapter Scholarships, Beta Sigma's Dolehanty Tripod Scholarship and Alpha Beta's Razzano Tripod Scholarship.

National Endowment Funds and Grants
  • Subrosa "Brother-in-Need" Fund
Grants from the Subrosa Fund (Brother-in-Need) assist Brothers facing financially challenging times due to natural disaster, medical expenses or other extenuating hardships. The decision to support a Brother in need through the establishment of such a fund was a natural extension of all that the Phi Sigma Pi Brotherhood stands for.

Established in 1999, the name was derived from The Ritual explanation that ceremonies held in "Subrosa", or "under the rose", are secret. Because the rose represents an ancient symbol of secrecy, monies given to a Brother through this fund are not revealed to the membership.

  • The Jeff and Kim Johnson Existence and Expansion Endowment Fund
Established in 2007 through the generosity of former National President Jeff Johnson and his wife Kim, this fund was created to provide financial support to ensure that future generations of students have the opportunity to benefit from the Phi Sigma Pi experience. Similar to an insurance policy, this fund protects the Fraternity's existing chapters from inactivity and provides additional resources to spread Phi Sigma Pi to new schools.

Specifically, monies from this fund are invested in three areas: recruitment activities to prevent existing collegiate chapters from going inactive; resources to grow the number of active collegiate chapters; and ongoing membership education that stresses the importance of reaching new university communities.

  • Lamp of Knowledge Fund
The Lamp of Knowledge Fund was approved by the National Council in July 2007 and formally chartered into existence during Grand Chapter business a month later. The purpose of the fund is to increase member participation in leadership training, national events and philanthropic activities, specifically Teach For America.

The immediate intention of the National Council is to use these funds to improve training and attendance at National Convention and to increase grants for Phi Sigma Pi alumni who join the Teach For America corps.

  • Teach For America Grants
Returning to our roots as a teacher-focused organization, Teach For America (TFA) was selected as our national philanthropy. TFA is committed to eliminating educational inequity by recruiting recent college graduates to teach for two years in urban and rural schools. Phi Sigma Pi supports these efforts by providing grants for Brothers who are Teach For America corps members.

National Unrestricted Funds
  • Unrestricted Fund
When a donation is made to this fund it allows the Fraternity to determine where funds could have the most immediate impact. These funds benefit all aspects of operations, staffing, chapter development, alumni development and other programs that benefit the long-term health of the entire fraternity. This is a great way to provide flexibility for the Fraternity and potentially impact numerous initiatives and individuals.
